Great Books 3

This college-level course, instructed by Supervising Teacher Sue Ellen Turscak M.A., offers an intensive Socratic tutorial exploring the foundational texts of Middle Ages and early Renaissance, spanning from the medieval epic to the Scholastic writers. Students delve into themes such as faith vs. reason, courtly love, and the nature of the soul, and are expected to produce weekly, thoughtful responses, short essays (Summae), and longer analytical, expository, and creative essays. The course meets once a week for two hours, with approximately 6 hours of weekly homework, equating to up to two high school credits.

Prerequisites include completion of Great Books 2 or equivalent at the high school level.
