About this Course

The online course is an intensive, weekly Socratic tutorial that delves into the literary, historical, and philosophical classics of ancient Rome and the Early Church. It aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the cultural roots of modern society by exploring the fundamental concepts and decisions made in the past 4500 years. Through discussions and analyses, students engage with Roman literature and significant events, persons, and ideas from that era. Each class session runs for two hours with an additional six hours of weekly homework, including reading, study questions, and composition.

With a focus on literature and history, the course may be counted for up to two high school credits depending on the student's state regulations. It requires completion of a prerequisite course, such as Great Books I (CLRC) or an equivalent course with the same book list from another institution like Schola Academy.
