About this Course

German 3/4 is a year-long course (Fall 2025 - Spring 2026) taught by Dana Hanley, designed for grades 9-12. This advanced language course builds upon German 2, focusing on Germany's history from World War II to the present, and will introduce advanced grammar concepts such as the passive voice. The course aims to enhance students' confidence and proficiency in German by improving their grammar, reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills through relevant readings, themes, and authentic resources. Engaging activities like games, challenges, dynamic lessons, and virtual tours of German sites are employed to facilitate learning. Regular quizzes, projects, and take-home tests assess students' progress.

German 3/4 integrates technology into learning through the SAMR model, enabling students to receive and complete assignments digitally, use online resources for listening practice, create multimedia presentations, and participate in virtual exchange programs with German students learning English. The course encourages bundling with complementary classes for savings and can be a part of the Dual Degree Program, offering highschool students the chance to earn college credits.
