German 2 Language and Culture

The German 2 online course is a continuation of German 1, designed to build on the initial proficiency of students in the German language. The course focuses on developing skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing in a fast-paced and interactive classroom environment. Students are expected to participate actively in class and will learn to handle short social situations in everyday life, talk freely about familiar topics, and write short paragraphs on familiar topics. They will also be able to understand the main topic of spoken and written communication about familiar topics and learn to discuss events that happened in the past. The course will continue to explore German culture through weekly culture highlights and projects.

The course is offered in two levels: standard and honors. The honors course meets twice a week and provides more dedicated opportunity for instruction and speaking, resulting in a higher proficiency level compared to the standard course which meets once a week. The course recommends pairing with the German Language and Culture Club for additional cultural activities and conversational practice.
