About this Course

This online course is a comprehensive study of the German language, focusing on listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. It covers a variety of topics related to the German language and culture, and offers interactive activities and practices to reinforce new skills. The course is offered in both standard and honors levels, with the honors level featuring more instructional time and speaking practice. Cultural highlights and special projects are also included in the course. This high school credit course is open to grade 8 students, although the pace, workload, and standards are at the high school level.

Students who enroll in this course can expect to communicate in German about themselves and a range of topics, including hobbies, family, school, clothing, food, and traveling. It is offered as a full-year course, one day a week for the standard level and two days a week for the honors level. No accommodations are made for students who are not ready to work at a high school pace with high school standards. This course can be combined with the German Language and Culture Club for additional conversational practice and cultural activities.
