About this Course
The German 1 course is a high school level language course that focuses on developing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in the German language. The course is structured around four key themes, each centered around a vocabulary theme, grammar concept, and interactive activities to reinforce learning. Cultural highlights and special projects are incorporated to give students an understanding of German-speaking regions and their cultural history. By the end of the course, students will be able to communicate about themselves and various topics such as hobbies, family, school, clothing, food, and traveling.
The course is available in both standard and honors levels, with the honors level offering two days of live class per week for more dedicated instruction time and speaking opportunities. Grade 8 students are allowed to enroll, but the rigor, pace, and workload are high school level and no accommodations are made for differing readiness levels.
