About this Course
The Fundamentals of Mathematics is a full-year online course designed to prepare students for pre-algebra. This logic stage mathematics course focuses on the development of foundational skills necessary for success in higher-level math and science courses. Topics covered in this course include a comprehensive review of basic arithmetic skills, set and number theory, decimals, percents, integers, variables, the Cartesian plane, functions, and basic geometry, with an emphasis on expertise with fractions. Additionally, the course provides brief introductions to radicals and exponents, statistics, probability, and solving equations and inequalities. It should be noted that some basic skills like measurement, time, and introductory data representation will not be covered in this course.
Parents, guardians, or their designees are expected to provide assistance in completing some assigned tasks, and they are required to verify the completion of certain assignments. Students are required to scan their work and upload it to Blackboard for evaluation. The prerequisite for this course is the Fundamentals of Mathematics (Traditional) Pretest.
