Fundamentals of Art with a Focus on Iconography (K-2)

This course, designed for students from Kindergarten to 3rd Grade, offers a blend of practical and theoretical learning in the field of Art. It aims to foster an appreciation for iconic artworks and the processes behind their creation. The program follows a structured routine: beginning with opening prayers and a lesson overview, followed by direct instruction, class discussion, practice, and peer feedback. Students will explore various painting styles and techniques, utilizing basic art supplies, with a focus on recognizing and mixing colors, identifying lines types, and reproducing simple drawings. Each week, the teacher will lead a discussion on a masterpiece, with students then replicating or creating a element of it. The course emphasizes independent learning, with parents acting as helpers nearby for assistance, and students uploading photos of their completed projects.

The primary objectives of the course include cultivating a love for icons and understanding their creation, identifying and mixing colors, recognizing different types of lines, reproducing simple drawings, recognizing famous artworks and artists, expanding art-related vocabulary, and practicing observation and description of art and icons.
