French IB

The Well-Trained Mind Academy offers a full-year course in French IB, which is the second half of the introductory sequence for learning the language and exploring the cultures of French-speaking countries. This course is designed for middle school students in the logic stage (grades 6-9) and is taught at a slower pace than the high school level course to accommodate the different instructional needs of this age group. The curriculum is based on the World-readiness Standards for Learning Languages from the ACTFL, and students will develop skills in communication, cultural understanding, connections, comparisons, and communities. It is recommended that students have a strong understanding of grammar rules before enrolling in this course, and the academy offers grammar courses with placement tests to help determine the appropriate level for each student.
