About this Course
The Online French I course is a full-year course designed for high school students to provide an introductory foundation for further study of the French language and cultures of French-speaking countries. Throughout the course of the academic year, students will develop their communication skills to discuss various topics, including personal preferences, descriptions of people and places, food, and travel. The course is aligned with the World-readiness Standards for Learning Languages from the ACTFL, focusing on five key areas: Communication, Cultures, Connections, Comparisons, and Communities.
It is recommended that students have a strong understanding of grammar rules, though it is not a prerequisite. The course is not offered with a delayed section due to the importance of live interaction in learning a new language. Additionally, middle school students should begin their French studies with French IA, and this course is not suitable for students who have not completed the topics covered in Grammar I.
