French 2

This online course is a continuation of French Level 1, focusing on developing students' reading, speaking, understanding, and listening skills in French. The course is led by instructor Sally Barstow and is designed to build on the foundations established in French Level 1. Topical units are structured around interpersonal communication, presentational speaking and writing, as well as interpretive activities in reading and listening. Students will have the opportunity to improve their vocabulary and pronunciation, and will be exposed to various aspects of Francophone culture. The course is structured around a weekly live meeting, with students expected to complete approximately 3-4 hours of homework each week. Weekly assignments are designed to keep students actively engaged with French and are graded the week they are turned in. Unit projects may take longer to grade, and feedback and corrections are given in French. The course is appropriate for students in grades 9-12 who have completed French 1 or its equivalent.
