About this Course
The course "Foundations of American Liberty and Government" is a live, online class offered over a full year, meeting on Wednesdays from 10:15 am to 11:15 am CST. Taught by Mrs. Jeanette Whittaker, this course is designed for high school students and provides 1 credit. It explores the often-overlooked Christian history of America and the Biblical principles that have influenced the nation's governance. The curriculum encourages real-time discussions, guided instruction, and thought-provoking activities to develop critical thinking and Biblical reasoning skills.
Students will study significant historical documents, influential figures, and key events to understand the role of Christianity in American history and policy-making. The course substitutes traditional textbooks with the Libronix digital library for efficient and flexible access to resources. It also augments learning with audio-based digital materials and digital notebooks. Students will engage in the 4R Process (Research, Reason, Relate, and Record) using historical tools like Webster's 1828 Dictionary and the King James Version of the Bible for a modified learning experience. A redefined learning approach includes a collaborative group project using digital tools for presentation and peer interaction.
