About this Course

This is a one-semester online course that focuses on the study of classic films from various genres. The course treats film as both an art form and a form of entertainment, and students will learn how to analyze the different elements utilized in filmmaking such as editing, acting, and plot. They will also explore how films shape the viewers' understanding of the world and the filmmakers' perspectives, as well as the development of filmmaking techniques. Additionally, students will learn how to write critiques or reviews of films. The course may contain content that some families may find objectionable, including violence, nudity, sexual content, and drug use. Parents are advised to consult content-warning resources before enrolling their student. The course alternates with Shakespeare on Film.
