Fable and Narrative
About this Course
Classical Composition is a fourteen-stage writing program designed for grades 6-8 students (ages 11-14), based on the historic 'progymnasmata' method. It focuses on developing students' creative thinking and narrative skills through systematic study of the Fable and Narrative Stages. Students learn various figures of description, improving their ability to express ideas in different ways. The course demands 35-40 minutes daily, with grades based on attendance, participation, and weekly final drafts. Prerequisites include a basic understanding of English grammar and typing proficiency.
Upon completion, students can proceed to the Chreia & Maxim Stage (at a slower pace) or directly to High School Composition I (faster pace, covering the same material more rigorously).
