About this Course

This online literature and composition course is designed to engage students in reading various genres of literature, analyzing different writing styles, and developing their composition skills. The course covers a wide range of literary styles, including short stories, films, poetry, and plays. Students will analyze famous voices from modern and classic literature and learn to apply persuasive appeals in rhetoric. The course also features a selection of books, such as "Eragon," "The Relics of Errus" series, "Out of the Silent Planet," and "Boy on the Wooden Box" by Leon Leyson. Through these books, students will explore the devices and ideas that make the characters' stories so compelling.

The course is recommended for ninth-grade students and may be used for homeschool transcripts. It is not eligible for high school credit from TPS. This course is designed to challenge students to become literary thinkers and purposeful writers, preparing them for upper-level English courses.
