About this Course
This online course invites students to explore the cultures and histories of Ancient India, Ancient China, the Mongol Empire, Ancient Japan, Ancient Korea, the Medes and Persians, and the Islamic Empire. Students will examine the rules, religious beliefs, artwork, and narratives of these ancient societies, using novels, poetry, and short stories as primary sources. The course emphasizes writing and composition, with reflective writing exercises incorporated into each unit. Students should expect discussions and creative projects as part of the coursework.
The course is not a prerequisite for any other TPS courses and does not fulfill the English proficiency requirement for other TPS courses. It is recommended, however, that students concurrently take TPS Writing 5 Adventures or Writing 6 Exploration to enhance their writing skills.
