About this Course
This online course focuses on market economies, offering an in-depth examination of both free markets and command markets. It covers the functions of supply and demand, the role of competition, savings and borrowing, government involvement, and the control of the money supply. The course also explores the nature of money, its functions, and the reasons why all money is not equal. Students will learn about the benefits and perils of a global economy, the roles of the United Nations, and the impact of NAFTA and GATT. The course also covers personal savings, debt management, and includes a semester-long project to track and graph the stock market, as well as a currency exchange game.
The course is suggested to be paired with TPS Government for a full-year Civics course as required by many states.
