About this Course

This online course offers a semester-long introduction to Economics through an engaging and practical approach. Using three books—'Whatever Happened to Penny Candy', 'A Bluestocking Guide to Economics', and 'The Money Mystery'—the class explores the history and current state of economics, both in the U.S. and globally. Students will participate in two projects: a 'Cost of Living' project where they calculate their expected expenses at age 23, presenting their findings to the class, and a 'Stock Market Challenge' where they invest virtual money and compete on wise investments.

The course aims to equip students with essential life skills by connecting economic principles to real-world applications and encouraging them to see the relevance of mathematics in daily life. It serves as a stepping stone for students preparing for adulthood and future success.
