Economic Practices

This online course, designed for high school students, is an in-depth exploration of economics. It begins by examining why prices fluctuate and how individual choices and macroeconomic interactions drive these changes. Throughout the semester, students delve into complex topics like socialism, inflation, and government interventions. The course employs a multi-faceted approach to assessment, including open book quizzes, concept examples, class discussions, and three major essays. Additionally, honors students engage in independent research and analysis of real-world economic articles.

Key texts for the course include "Economics in One Lesson" by Hazlitt and "Lessons for the Young Economist" by Murphy. Upon completion, students may earn 1/2 Economics credit, and the course pairs well with a semester of U.S. Government for a full year of Economics and Government studies.
