About this Course

This full-year course provides an in-depth exploration of the natural world through a combination of three sciences: Geology, Meteorology, and Astronomy. Students are immersed in a multimedia-rich format that includes lectures with color graphics, demonstrations, video clips, reading, laboratory experiments, and investigative homework. The course follows a middle school Earth Science and Astronomy class and consists of 1.5 hours of weekly instruction, plus an additional 1-hour session and more challenging homework assignments for high school students. The curriculum involves some basic math analysis, making concurrent enrollment in Algebra 1 or above highly recommended. The homework load is approximately 2-3.5 hours per week. Upon completion, high school students may earn 1 Science credit. Prerequisites include Physical Science, with Algebra 1 or concurrent enrollment being required.
