About this Course

This 24-week course, presented in two 12-week parts, is designed to enhance students' technical drawing skills and artistic exploration. In the first part, students will delve into technical skills such as material application, precision, shading, blending, and various drawing techniques. The second part of the course ventures into diverse art genres, styles, and art movements. Each week, students will have a unique theme and artist focus, fostering their understanding of art history. They'll create personal artworks, applying composition skills and mimicking assigned styles. Upon completion of this course, students will be prepared for a portfolio course where they'll craft their own artistic style and narrative, pen an artist statement, and adopt new creative habits. This course awards one Fine Arts credit for high school students, with Drawing 2 or instructor permission serving as prerequisites.
