About this Course
The Distinguished Scholars Program (DSP) at AAO is a program designed to assist students in achieving the Distinguished Scholars Award (DSA) and developing academic and leadership skills. The program is open to academically motivated 8th-12th grade students who maintain a cumulative 92% average in AAO high school classes and are interested in meeting like-minded students. DSP students will meet over Zoom twice a month to hear from guest speakers, discuss timely topics and receive coaching on college planning and merit scholarship opportunities. Students will also have the opportunity to take on leadership positions within the program and will receive recognition for their participation and achievement on their AAO transcript. To earn the DSA, students must earn 9 or more credits through AAO during high school and achieve a minimum 92% overall average.
The program runs from August to April and offers 2 high school credits per year for students. The meetings will be recorded and students will continue interactions throughout the year via monitored discussion threads on Canvas. The program is open to students who are enrolled in 2 high school credits or more, and students who have been in the program as seniors may request a reduction in credits. Students who earn the DSA will receive a certificate of achievement and have it noted on their Aim Academy Online transcript.
