About this Course
This online course focuses on the importance of literature and creative writing in understanding the human experience in relation to God, creation, and others. Students will analyze works of published authors, examining the structure, sound, imagery, and style that contribute to meaning and power. They will also develop their own writing skills in fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction, learning to critique peer writing in a "round table" workshop setting. The course aims to help students find their unique voice, experiment with new styles, and build a professional portfolio of their writing. This course is able to offer three college credits from Belhaven University, which may be transferred to other colleges.
Regular active participation is required as the course involves frequent in-class peer reviews and workshops. This course is not able to offer the flexible scheduling that is available in some other TPS AP and college dual credit courses.
