Classical Studies III
About this Course
This online course, titled "Survey of Greek Dramatic Literature," introduces students in grades 9-12 to the works of Aeschylus, Sophocles, and Euripides. Over the full academic year, students will read selected Greek plays and engage with related texts, dedicating approximately 60 minutes daily. The course's primary objectives are to foster a deep understanding of Greek drama's unique forms and to examine the influence of these works on Western civilization, comparing the Greek mindset with contemporary perspectives. Students will be evaluated based on daily preparation, class participation, quizzes, tests, and one or two essays. Prerequisites include completion of a high school level Greek history course, such as Classical Studies I, while required materials comprise specific text and student guides for three plays by each of the three authors, as well as a USB headset microphone for developmental use.
