Classical Studies II

The online course, "Classical Studies II: Rome from Romulus to the Empire," is a high school credit-bearing history class that also incorporates literary analysis. Spanning across the rise and fall of the Roman monarchy, republic, and empire, this course explores the historical context, key figures, and cultural contributions of ancient Rome. Students delve into thematic topics such as political power dynamics, religion, and the elements of enduring cultures. Reading materials include "The Book of the Ancient Romans" and "The Aeneid," with the latter being a prerequisite read. The course is structured with daily 60-minute lessons and assessments consisting of participation in discussions, reading quizzes, response essays, and exams featuring essays. It is suitable for students aged 13-18 and is equivalent to one high school credit in History, or a half credit each in History and Literature.
