About this Course
The AAO Chess Club is a student-led organization that meets every Tuesday from 1:30-2:30 PM ET. The club is open to students in 6th grade and above, with varying skill levels from beginner to advanced. To participate, students must be enrolled in at least one course at AAO and have a Chess.com account, which must be linked to the AAO Chess Club account. The club is well-structured and provides opportunities for students to improve their chess skills, engage in individual and club tournaments, and receive advice from more experienced players. Consistent attendance is expected, and students must inform the club president in advance if they cannot attend a meeting to allow for tournament and game adjustments.
The club is led by Keaton, a sophomore, who is a passionate chess player, tennis player, and aspiring zoologist. Keaton has been playing chess since first grade and has a wealth of experience that he is eager to share with club members. In addition to leading the chess club, Keaton is a zookeeper at a local zoo and a member of the Distinguished Scholars Program at AAO. He is happy to answer any questions you may have, and you can reach him at keaton[at]aimacademy.online
