Chemistry (Honors)

This online course is an honors-level Chemistry class, designed for students who are interested in pursuing fields such as medical research, engineering, mathematics, or computer technology. It is a more rigorous and mathematically-oriented approach to general Chemistry, and it covers advanced topics and in-depth study to prepare students for AP Biology, AP Chemistry, and college-level chemistry courses. The course topics include gases, liquids, solids, atomic structure, chemical bonding, nuclear reactions, rates of reactions, equilibrium, laboratory practices, and qualitative analysis.

The lab component of the course includes hands-on experiments performed at home using a lab kit and virtual experiments conducted online using a virtual lab. Both methods require formal lab reports, providing training and resources for writing technically correct lab reports, preparing students for upper-level science and college lab courses.
