About this Course
In this online course, students are introduced to fundamental chemistry concepts and provided real-world applications, along with integration of its history and relevance to other subjects, particularly mathematics. The course spans one academic year, equivalent to one high school credit in Science, and is recommended for academically strong grade 10 students or those in grade 11-12 (aged 16-18). Prerequisites include completion of Algebra I, with Algebra II either completed or concurrently in progress due to the necessity of balancing algebraic equations. The course utilizes the textbook 'General Chemistry' by John D. Mays, and requires access to a scientific calculator, Microsoft Excel (or similar), a scanner or scanning app, a headset microphone, and a virtual chemistry lab. Assessment is based on attendance, participation, quizzes and tests, virtual lab assignments, and hands-on projects.
