Calligraphy | Spring

The course is a second semester study of calligraphy, build upon principles learned in the first semester, suitable for students joining mid-year. It covers various scripts including copperplate, business penmanship, italic script, gothic script, and illumination, culminating in a final project of writing a complete poem or quotation in the chosen script. The curriculum includes project planning, paper selection, and measurement techniques, aiming to improve students' calligraphy skills and handwriting. The course encourages artistic expression, personal growth, and the creation of meaningful pieces like scripture verses and cards. Students engage in hands-on studio work, class critiques, and develop individual artist statements.
