British Literature

This online course focuses on British Literature from 1678 to 1954, covering a broad historical span while maintaining an intensive study of selected texts. It aims to provide a solid foundation for further exploration of renowned British literature. Students will delve into influential political, philosophical, social, and religious factors that shaped the works of authors during the Enlightenment Era, the Romantic Period, and the Victorian Age, among others. The course places strong emphasis on analytical skill development through various writing projects, essays, and a dialectic notebook. It also incorporates elements of British history, integrated with literary study. The target grades are 9th-10th grade, with students expected to have strong reading, writing, and discussion skills. Faith integration is approached through charitably reading texts and examining them from a robustly Christian perspective.
