About this Course

"BizTalk: Personal & Professional Communication" is a semester-long, half-credit course designed for high school students (9th-12th grades), taught by Beth Purcell on Thursdays at 9:00 AM CST in Fall 2025. Taught as a real-world simulation, this communications course in the Entrepreneurial Series equips students with practical skills for personal and professional growth. Students will develop a personal mission, vision, and brand, learn to create resumes, cover letters, and personal bios, and master business etiquette and leadership principles. The course emphasizes developing a professional digital portfolio to showcase talents and accomplishments, benefiting internships, college applications, and future careers.

Key focus areas include improving communication skills, analyzing customer service, mastering professional writing, engaging in project-based learning, and perfecting leadership and teamwork skills. Upon completion, students will have a polished professional portfolio, ready to impress future employers or college admissions officers. Prerequisites include confident computer skills and a good command of English grammar. The course leverages technology at every level of the SAMR model to enhance learning.
