About this Course

This is a high school biology course offered by Aim Academy, designed to prepare students for college level studies. The course, taught by Dr. Karen Joseph, focuses on the study of living organisms and their interactions. It covers topics such as cell structure and function, genetics, microorganisms, plants, animals, and human beings, as well as the ecosystems and communities they inhabit. The course includes live Zoom sessions once a week, daily lessons with readings from a biology textbook, and laboratory activities. Students can expect to spend about 30 minutes per day on coursework.

The course is aimed at students in grades 9-12, but advanced 8th graders may be considered with approval from the instructor. Students will need access to high-speed internet, a sound card and microphone, and streaming video capabilities. Assessment and feedback are provided through frequent "learning checks," essay questions, writing assignments, lab reports, and projects. Parents are encouraged to communicate with the instructor with any questions or concerns.
