Big History A

Big History Part A (BHA) is a high school social studies course that compresses 13.7 billion years of universal history into an accessible learning format. Spanning the first half of a two-semester course, BHA covers the initial five units, ranging from the Big Bang to the emergence of life on Earth. This course traverses astronomical, geological, and biological timelines, exploring common themes that illuminate patterns across civilizations. It's designed to be a scientific and historical overview, emphasizing four central themes: increasing complexity, differing scales in space and time, claims testing, and collective learning. Lessons are presented through weekly 50-minute webinars, facilitated by recordings for students who cannot attend live sessions.
