About this Course

The Belhaven High Scholars Year 1 course, offered in partnership with Belhaven University, is a two-year "classics" or "Great Books" program that integrates western history, literature, and art from ancient to contemporary times. This full-year course includes four live interactive classes each week, featuring teacher-moderated round table discussions, and is open to students in grade 10 and up. This program offers 24 college credits in Freshman Comp 1 and 2, World Lit 1 and 2, Western History 1 and 2, Contemporary History, and Art Appreciation, as well as high school credits in History, Lit and Comp, and academic electives. College credit fees are required in addition to TPS tuition. Regular attendance is necessary as in-class discussions and seminars are a significant part of the course, and factor into the course grade.
