Austen/Shakespeare

The course is an in-depth study of the works of Jane Austen and Shakespeare, designed for high school students aged 15-18. Over the span of a year, students will delve into three of Austen's novels - 'Sense and Sensibility', 'Pride and Prejudice', and 'Emma', followed by a detailed exploration of one comedy and two tragedies by Shakespeare, including 'Hamlet', 'The Merchant of Venice', and 'Midsummer Night’s Dream'. Course materials include specific editions of these works and accompanying student guides. The coursework involves daily dedicated time, requiring strong reading and writing skills, with evaluations based on participation, writing assignments, essays, quizzes, and memory work. Successful completion grants 1 high school credit in English, Language Arts, or Literature.
