About this Course

This online course focuses on the historical and cultural developments of East Asia, South Asia, and Southeast Asia from approximately 2000 years ago to the present day. Through creative projects, interactive class discussions, and some writing, students will engage with the art, architecture, literature, technology, customs, religions, and societal structures of these diverse cultures. The course will consider the perspectives of individuals within each of these cultural and religious contexts from a biblical worldview. Major periods of study include the rise and fall of empires and dynasties, the influence of colonization, and recent developments such as nationalism, communism and the Cold War, and modernization. This course is accessible for students at various writing levels as it features projects and other forms of evaluation alongside writing assignments.
