Artist in the Desert – Georgia O’Keeffe – Early Semester – High School Level

This online course offers a focused study on the works of American Modernist painter Georgia O’Keeffe, particularly her depictions of large flowers, animal skulls, and desert landscapes of New Mexico. Participants explore the fundamentals of art appreciation through the analysis of form, color, line, and space in O'Keeffe's painting style. The hands-on aspect of the course encourages students to create and share their own watercolor paintings, with an opportunity to showcase them in a final webinar-style gallery walk.

In the "Athena's Gallery Walk", students are invited to critique and interpret their peers' artwork in a role-play as art critics. This interactive activity fosters critical thinking and provides peer feedback, enhancing the learning experience.
