Art Foundations 1 & 2

This is a year-long online course in Visual Arts/Fine Arts, offering 1.0 credit for students who complete both semesters and 0.5 credit for those who complete just the first semester. The course focuses on the elements of art and strengthening the ability to communicate visually through various artistic methods and materials. Weekly live explorations in art and science, hands-on art instruction, and experimentation are included. By the end of the course, students will have developed proficiency in fundamental art techniques, critical thinking skills, and a portfolio showcasing their artistic growth.

The course includes weekly live meetings, interactive discussions, readings, art journal prompts, and various art projects. It is recommended for 9th-12th graders who are interested in basic art skills and fulfilling the required high school fine arts credit. High-speed internet, sound card, microphone, streaming video capabilities, and a digital camera are required. Detailed critiques, grading rubrics, and clear communication with families are provided.
