About this Course

Art Exploration is a one-semester course that offers a full-year option for middle school students. The course is designed to help students build their creativity and artistic skills through hands-on practice and project-based learning. Students will explore various mediums such as painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, and printmaking while learning about the role of color, texture, and composition in art making. They will also study the elements and principles of art and design and investigate how to express their ideas through visual art. By the end of the course, students will have gained a strong foundation in art-making skills and be able to create works of art with confidence.

Although Art Exploration can be taken as a standalone semester course, students are encouraged to complete both Art Exploration I in the fall and Art Exploration II in the spring to fulfill the full-year option. However, only Art Exploration II will be offered during the 2023-2024 school year. Art experience is not required for enrollment, making it an excellent opportunity for students who are new to visual arts or looking to strengthen their skills.
