About this Course
This is an online AP World History: Modern course that follows the College Board’s syllabus. The course spans six themes: humans and the environment, cultural developments and interactions, governance, economic systems, social interactions and organization, and technology and innovation. Students will learn to analyze primary and secondary historical sources, develop historical arguments, make connections between different times and places in modern world history, and increase their understanding of cause and effect in historical contexts. The course is divided into 10 units, with each unit lasting three weeks, and the final week is dedicated to review and exam preparation. The course is aimed at students in grades 9-12 who are interested in history and have strong reading and writing skills.
The course emphasizes exam readiness, with each unit culminating in a practice-style exam and incorporating multiple choice questions, short response questions, an essay, and a document-based question essay. Students can expect extensive feedback on key writing assignments, and communication is through Canvas. The course does not have specific prerequisites but does require high-speed internet, a sound card and microphone, streaming video capabilities, and the ability to scan or take pictures of certain assignments for submission.
