About this Course
The online APĀ® U.S. Government and Politics course, taught by Daniel Burns for the 2024-2025 school year, invites homeschoolers in grades 9-12 to engage in a college-level exploration of key political concepts and institutions in the U.S. Through the study of foundational documents, Supreme Court decisions, and other texts, students will develop evidence-based arguments and gain an understanding of the relationships and interactions between political institutions and behaviors. Weekly live interactions, discussions, projects, simulations, and optional activities such as virtual video nights are included to foster engagement. The course requires a time commitment of 6-9 hours per week, utilizing American Government by OpenStax Learning as the primary text and incorporating supplemental materials like interactive Constitution tool, Hillsdale College's Constitution 101 course videos, and iCivics games. Tuition ranges from $685 (early bird) to $710, with an optional $250 audit option.
