About this Course

This is a live online AP U.S. Government and Politics course designed for high school students in grades 9-12. The course aims to fulfill both high school and college credit, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles behind the United States government and political institutions. Students will study political behaviors, collective action, key concepts in the American political tradition, and the historical development of the current political situation. The course is structured around five major themes: constitutionalism, liberty and order, civic participation in a representative democracy, competing policy-making interests, and methods of political analysis.

The course involves interactive discussions, creating political cartoons, designing a mock campaign, analyzing current events, and crafting a civics engagement project. Students will have to commit to serious study for the duration of the course, as the class is designed to be rigorous and challenging, with a weekly live session, bi-weekly quizzes, and weekly assignments. The estimated amount of work per week outside of the live session is 6 hours. The course is designed for a maximum of 16 students to ensure student engagement. To enroll in this course, students must have a general knowledge of US government and a strong vocabulary.
