About this Course

This is a full-year online APĀ® Statistics course designed to prepare students for the AP exam by teaching them major statistical concepts and tools. The course, taught by Amelia Chan, is equivalent to an introductory, non-calculus-based college course in Statistics and covers data collection, analysis, and interpretation through discussions, activities, and designing surveys and experiments. Students will learn skills such as selecting methods for collecting or analyzing data, using probability and simulation to define uncertainty, and drawing appropriate conclusions from data. The course includes an ebook of The Practice of Statistics, homework assignments, video lectures, instructional videos, and access to statistical apps and calculators. The course requires a computer, high-speed internet access, a camera, and a graphing calculator. A weekly optional live Zoom session is available.

Ms. Chan has an M.A. in Mathematics from Columbia University and a B.A. in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of California, with a professional background in Investment Banking, Financial Software Engineering, and Actuarial Consulting. She has been teaching math online and in-person for over 15 years and is passionate about helping students from around the world succeed in math.
