About this Course
This online course, Authorized by the College Board to carry the AP® designation, is designed to be equivalent to a first-year college-level general physics class. It aims to deepen students' understanding of physics, focusing on algebra-based topics, and prepares them for college-level science, engineering, or math courses. The rigorous curriculum covers essential topics such as kinematics, dynamics, circular motion, gravitation, energy, momentum, simple harmonic motion, torque, and rotational motion, all while emphasizing the use of vectors and multi-step problem-solving skills.
Offered for grades 11-12, the class requires a solid foundation in physical sciences, typically indicated by completion of Physics 1 (or equivalent), as well as proficient understanding of Algebra 2 and Pre-Calculus/Trigonometry. Upon completion, students are eligible to take the AP® Physics 1 Algebra-Based Exam administered by the College Board each May.
