About this Course

The Online Macroeconomics course, taught by Howard Richman, is designed for homeschooled students and will be offered for the 2024-2025 school year. The course will use the textbook Principles of Economics Version 1.0 by Libby Rittenberg and Timothy Tregarthen, along with online lectures by Prof. Timothy Taylor and Jacob Clifford. The class will have weekly Zoom discussions and will require an average of 90 minutes per weekday, with additional assignments in February and March. The course will cover economics theories of prominent economists, including Adam Smith, Keynes, and Milton Friedman, and will focus on predicting the effects of government actions on issues such as inflation, unemployment, recession, international trade, and long-term growth. The class will also include economics simulation games to enhance learning. Exam results from 2024 showed that 88% of students received a "5" (college "A+") on the AP Macroeconomics exam.
