About this Course
This is an online AP-approved Latin course for grades 9-12, focused on teaching students to read, translate, and critically analyze select passages from the Aeneid by Virgil. The course aims to prepare students for the AP Latin exam by emphasizing sight reading, writing literal translations, and composing analytical essays. Students will study vocabulary, syntax, and inflection while also reading the entire Aeneid in English for context. The course will closely resemble the format of the AP exam, including timed writing sections and sight reading passages. It is open to students who have previously taken a translation class but allows for exceptions. The course requires access to specific textbooks and optional vocabulary cards, as well as a USB headset microphone for some activities.
