AP French Language and Culture

This online course is designed to prepare advanced French language students for the Advanced Placement (AP) exam. The teacher is certified and experienced as a reader for the AP French exam, and the course aligns with the themes presented in the exam: Global Challenges, Science and Technology, Contemporary Life, Personal and Public Identities, Families and Communities, and Beauty and Aesthetics. The course emphasizes developing fluency through watching French TV, reading comprehension, and audio recordings. Assignments, quizzes, and tests focus on building AP French exam readiness, specifically in interpretative communication, interpersonal, presentational writing, interpersonal speaking and presentational skills. Regular attendance and active participation are required as this is a spoken language mastery course.

The course is AP certified, and AP exam results can be found on the TPS website. This course has CA A-G approval. It is recommended that students take AP French after French 3 or 4, preferably during their last year in high school for better preparation and higher scores on both language and culture components of the exam.
