About this Course

The online AP Environmental Science course, taught by Instructor Lisa Duckworth, is a twice-a-week class that totals 2.5 hours of instruction time. The course is designed to encourage student inquiries into environmental science and equip students with the necessary skills to be proficient in the subject. It focuses on real-life ecological concepts and environmental issues that affect the world today. The course structure covers 9 units, 4 Big Ideas, and 7 Science Practices that are tested on the AP Environmental Science Exam. It requires a significant time investment and includes hands-on labs, demos, textbook and online readings, worksheets, videos, and online laboratory investigations. The course is recommended for 10-12 grade students who have completed a basic high school introductory biology course and Algebra.

Technology requirements for this course include high-speed internet, webcam, microphone, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Google Docs, Sheets, Slides access, printer, and scanner or smartphone. Grades and feedback are provided through Canvas with all assignments graded within one week of submission. Parent-teacher conferences are available upon request.
