About this Course
This is an online Calculus course taught by Jeff Lanctot, intended for students in grades 10-12 who have strong mathematical skills and have completed courses including geometry, algebra II, trigonometry, and elementary functions. The course covers the same topics as a 1st-semester college-level Calculus AB course and prepares students for the APĀ® Calculus AB Exam. It begins the first week of September and ends with the AP Exam in early May. The course covers limits, derivatives, integration and their applications, and is the equivalent to a 1st-semester college-level calculus course. The course does not have a specific meeting time, but has a schedule for readings and assignments. Students are expected to spend 8-10 hours weekly on the class, including reading, completing practice problems, and participating in online discussions. The course will provide a free PDF version of the textbook, Calculus of a Single Variable - Early Transcendental Functions, 5th edition by Larson and Edwards, and a TI-84/89 graphing calculator is required.
