About this Course
This is a full-year AP Biology course designed for high school homeschoolers who have already completed both high school-level Biology and Chemistry classes. The course, which is equivalent to two semesters of college Biology, covers topics such as the chemistry of life, cells and cell energetics, heredity, molecular genetics, evolution, diversity of organisms, structure and function of plants and animals, and ecology. The course aims to help students develop a thorough understanding of biological concepts, view science as a process, acquire personal experience in scientific inquiry, and apply biological knowledge and critical thinking to environmental and social concerns.
The course is offered in both live and asynchronous formats, with weekly live or recorded sessions, as well as optional live study halls. The course uses McGraw Hill's Biology (AP edition) by Sylvia S. Mader and Michael Windelspecht as the main textbook, along with eMind software for virtual dissections, and a variety of labs, case studies, and projects. The course is NCAA approved and complies with the AP course audit, with 83% of students scoring a 4 or 5 on the 2024 AP Biology exam.
